The Cross Impact tool enables groups to compare two lists systematically. The two lists can be created in previous steps or during the meeting planning process previous steps or during the meeting planning process. Two scales are available, -5 to +5 and yes/no. There is no limit to the number of items on either list.

Summary table

Here are some examples for using Cross Impact:

  • Indicate a positive or negative impact of several strategies on each goal.
  • Evaluate a list of items on several equally-weighted criteria when one question doesn’t capture enough dimensions.
  • Test several options (e.g., candidates) using a yes/no scale (e.g., skills).
  • The result of a Cross Impact step is a list that can be used in subsequent steps and also in the final document. In addition, Cross Impact graphs can be saved (rows, columns, and/or items).
  • Cross Impact features include:
  • Unlimited “Roll up” capability to append multiple groups (as in focus groups)
  • Comment capability on any item/topic combination
  • Modify either list during the step
  • Several viewing modes: with/without variability, by range, by subgroup (filtering), by value (filtering), summary by row or column
  • Reevaluation with audit trial
  • Save as Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for further analysis
